Dating and Breakups
Separation and divorce can bring significant emotional, relational, and practical changes. Even when a decision feels clear, the process can still involve grief, uncertainty, conflict, and shifts in identity or family life.
Counselling can be supportive when separation or divorce begins to feel overwhelming, isolating, or difficult to navigate alone.
At The Nest, we offer counselling that is calm, relational, and attentive to lived experience.
Counselling is offered in person in Nanaimo and virtually across British Columbia.
How separation and divorce may show up
People seek counselling during separation or divorce for many reasons, including:
Grief, sadness, or a sense of loss
Emotional overwhelm or heightened stress
Conflict or communication challenges
Identity changes or uncertainty about the future
Parenting transitions or changes in family structure
Difficulty making decisions or moving forward
Support that helps you process change and find steadiness
Counselling offers space to slow down and make sense of relationship experiences with care and perspective. Sessions can support processing grief, understanding patterns, and reconnecting with your needs and values.
Support may focus on building self-understanding, strengthening emotional steadiness, and creating space to move forward in ways that feel more grounded and intentional. Counselling is collaborative and paced with care.

By staying in an unhappy and unhealthy relationship your children may be inadvertently learning this is what relationships should look like. It is completely possible for children to maintain healthy attachment with both parents through separation and divorce and go on to thrive.
Therapy can be a great place to explore how to best navigate that process. Book a free 20 minute consult to see if it’s right for you.
