Family Counselling
Support for families navigating conflict, transitions, and relational strain.
Families often seek counselling during periods of stress, change, or disconnection. This may include challenges with communication, conflict, parenting dynamics, or transitions affecting the family system.
Family counselling at The Nest offers space to slow down, understand relational patterns, and support healthier ways of relating.
Counselling is offered in person in Nanaimo and virtually across British Columbia.
Common Reasons to seek Family Counselling
Family counselling may be supportive if you’re navigating:
Family conflict or communication challenges
Parenting stress or role shifts
Multigenerational dynamics
Transitions such as separation or blending families
Youth or adolescent challenges impacting the family
Emotional strain within the family system
Our Approach to Family Counselling
Our work is relational and trauma-informed, shaped collaboratively rather than by a set formula. We pay attention to how experiences show up in thoughts, emotions, the body, and relationships.
Sessions move at a pace that feels respectful of your capacity and needs. You don’t need to know which approach is right for you. We’ll explore that together.

Family counselling at The Nest Counselling Services brings together family members to work through conflict, improve communication, and strengthen relationships. Sessions may include parents and children, blended families, or adults navigating intergenerational dynamics. Family therapy looks at how everyone’s behaviours and emotions interact. Instead of focusing on one “problem person,” we work on patterns so the whole system can function better.

Not necessarily. Depending on what your family is working on, some sessions may involve the whole family and others may focus on specific members. Your counsellor at The Nest Counselling Services will work with you to figure out what structure makes the most sense.
