A cozy workspace with a wooden desk, a beige office chair, a mirror, a framed quote, a vase with dried pampas grass, and a small white trash bin. The desk is against a white wall, and there is a window with white curtains reflected in the mirror.

Life Transitions

Life transitions, such as leaving home for college, becoming a new parent, changing careers, going through a break up, or moving cities, can bring uncertainty, emotional strain, and a sense of being unsteady, even when changes are expected or chosen. Life transitions can impact how you feel, function, and relate to others.

Counselling can be supportive when change feels overwhelming, disorienting, or difficult to navigate on your own.

Counselling is offered in person in Nanaimo and virtually across British Columbia.

How life transitions may show up

People seek counselling during life transitions for many reasons, including:

  • Changes in identity, roles, or sense of direction

  • Adjusting to new parenthood, growing your family, or an empty nest

  • Relationship changes, such as marriage or divorce

  • Career transitions, including job loss or pivoting your career entirely

  • Entering or exiting university or college

  • Feelings of uncertainty, loss, or emotional overwhelm

  • Moving cities or countries

Support through periods of change and re-orientation

Counselling offers space to slow down and explore what is changing, both internally and externally. Sessions support reflection, emotional regulation, and clarity as you adjust to new circumstances.

Support is paced with care and collaboration, allowing room to process change without pressure to move forward before you’re ready.
