In Person in Nanaimo and Virtual Across British Columbia
Grief and Loss
Grief and loss can arise from many experiences, including death, relationship endings, fertility challenges, family estrangement, or the loss of hoped-for futures. Grief may show up quietly, alongside daily responsibilities, rather than in ways that are easily recognised.
Counselling can be supportive when grief feels heavy, complex, or difficult to carry alone.
At The Nest, we offer counselling that is calm, relational, and respectful of each person’s experience of loss.
Counselling is offered in person in Nanaimo and virtually across British Columbia.
How grief and loss may show up
People seek counselling for grief and loss for many reasons, including:
Feelings of sadness, numbness, or emotional heaviness
Processing acute grief after a recent loss, such as death of a loved one, relationship break up or job loss
Difficulty adjusting after a loss or change
Ongoing grief that resurfaces over time, even if the loss was many years ago
Ambiguous loss connected to identity, estranged relationships, or life expectations
Anticipatory grief of a ailing loved one
Fertility challenges, miscarriage, and still birth
Support that honours loss and emotional processing
Counselling provides space to acknowledge and explore grief with care and compassion. Sessions support emotional processing, meaning-making, and gentle reconnection with life as it continues to unfold.
Support is collaborative and paced thoughtfully, allowing grief to be expressed without expectation or pressure to resolve it.
